This TQM process can help identify any setting that might cause defects in the final product. The smallest issue with the machine like a loose bolt, unlubricated components or dirty machinery can be the reason for inferior quality output and unusable products. The time spent manufacturing and reworking the defective products is also wasted. 

The main target of businesses is increase its profits, productivity and efficiency hence defective products are not a desirable situation. It leads to a waste of material, manpower and time that are counteracting factors to profitability of the organization.
