Process Centered Approach Life line of TQM
The right process approach increases the organization’s capability to serve its customers
Process is a set of activities that need to be performed together to achieve the desired outcome. Different departments in an organization need to be aligned for a process to work smoothly and efficiently. Before executing a process, it needs to be understood clearly by all the teammates, resources must be controlled and the team must be committed to achieve results in an optimum time frame. Process ensures that the right action is taken at the right time, by the right people, to guarantee success, boost productivity and make sure nothing gets missed. What are steps needed to make sure that a process oriented approach leads to optimum results in total quality management initiatives? Here they are.
1. First and foremost, the goals of the organization need to be clearly defined. It clarifies the processes and resources needed to achieve them.
2. Second step must be to identify the constraints that are not allowing the organization to achieve the desired objectives. That empowers the teams to take decisions on what needs to be done to fix those issues, create accountabilities to manage processes and much more.
3. Identifying correlation between the processes is another step towards the process-centered approach in total quality management initiatives. The alteration is determined that may impact individual processes or systems holistically.
4. Information collection should be another vital step in this process. This way the total quality management process improves, monitored effectively and performance can be evaluated in real-time.
