Nowadays, many businesses manufacture a number of products using the same machines. The schedule of production determines which product is to be manufactured for a particular period of time and the changeover thereafter. Some time is spent only in changing the settings and adjusting tolerances for the next product to be manufactured. Sometimes, the setup has to be completely changed for production, i.e., tools and dies to be replaced for a different product. This is a time consuming and high skill job that requires a good amount of experience. It can consume more time than the actual production cycle if the operator does not have expertise in the changeover process which decreases the productivity and wastes time
