During the process of inspection,
as the problems are identified they are tagged. Tagging allows identification
of the problem easily to take measures for removing it. As a problem is
resolved the tags are taken off. In industry, the tagging process make the
problems visible but their main purpose is to look for a resolution to the
problem. Sometimes, the tags appear like bandages on a machine. Bandages give
the machines an appearance of being in ill shape.
Tagging makes the areas of improvement clearly
identifiable. It gives a clear picture to the operator and maintenance staff of
the condition of the workplace, that can help them to draw up a plan to
eliminate those problems for a better organized and problem-free workplace. It
also creates awareness amongst the workers to avoid accidents and increases
safety.
This also makes the process of
machine maintenance more efficient and accountable.
