Elimination of product and performance defects resembles the core agenda in achieving manufacturing  and operational excellence. The removal of defects is done by maintaining the machines up to the required standards. There are various TPM methods on standardized machine maintenance but the requirement of drawing standards is still persistent. A key point that is commonly missed by operators can make a significant difference— containing the source of contamination or breakdown. In organizations that do not focus on the source of contamination, it is often observed that machines return to their reduced state only a short while after their routine maintenance. The advanced method recommends identifying the source of contaminant. By identification of the contaminant and taking counter measures it is ensured that the same problem does not come up again. This leads to an effective maintenance routine that limits the scope of further defects and increases efficiency and productivity of the machine.
